- The weather has reached that “gloriously beautiful” stage where it’s sunny and almost hot, but not humid. Therefore when I’m not working, I’m outside with the kids and/or Gretel. My man has planted his vegetable garden and the corn is already knee-high, an oddity for this Wisconsin girl who is used to that not being the case until the fourth of July. He also planted an herb garden right outside my office window so when my window is open on nice mornings, I’ll be able to smell them, he says. He loves me.
- We had our first beach day a month ago. I took my daughter and a friend to Fort DeSoto and it was just so incredibly perfect. I dozed in the sun while the girls played.
- Spring break was awesome – the twins were here and we had a great time, though on their last day SD17 and I took Gretel to the dog beach and some moron didn’t have her dog on a leash and the dog ran up and bit Gretel, then retreated. Of course Gretel is a delicate flower and was screaming for what we later discovered was no reason but fear, so SD17 hugged her and the other dog came back and bit SD17. I was spitting mad, the woman did nothing, didn’t have vaccination information, etc. I flagged down a park ranger and she got a huge ticket for having her three dogs unleased, SD17 got some first aid, and the ranger had to force the woman to apologize to my daughter. I was livid and I turned her in to animal control.
- After about a month of not unbearable back issues, my man got a call from his doctor today asking him to come in so they could discuss his MRI results. Generally, being asked to come in to discuss results does not mean there is good news. All they did was throw more medication at him so we went to a spine surgeon with a different approach – the guy loves to do surgery but he thinks my man is too young so he’s going the 3 x weekly PT route and trying some lighter meds. So far, so good, though PT does not start until Monday.
- Kids great. Dog great. Marriage great.
- Had friends over for dinner last night and in walked Gonzo Imperial Porter. It is really delicious and I love the Hunter S. Thompson thing, but judging by the looks of those around me, a) I am glad I didn’t overdo it, and b) I understand why it’s only sold in four-packs as anything more might be deadly.
- I’ve been summoned to go on a “man trip” with my husband to get tune-up kids for the lawn equipment. So much for updating the blog. :)
- Happy Saturday!
